My Big News...
Monday, May 11, 2009 at 04:47AM Well, most of you know my big news by now, but for those of you I haven't seen in a while....I'M PREGNANT!!!! After trying for a couple of years, my husband and I have finally been blessed with this amazing miracle of life growing inside me. I have decided that I am going to journal my experience here on my blog, because it's what's going on in my life and I'm sure so many of you can relate :) I'm 24 weeks along and due on September 1st. For those of you wondering about my maternity leave, I haven't set anything in stone, but I will keep you updated!
I have had a really wonderful experience so far, no morning sickness (don't hate me) and all around feeling pretty good. The worst part for me is not sleeping at night. I'm a pretty big fan of sleeping eight hours every night (sometimes more), but now I wake up at 3:00 am almost every night...it's 4:00 am as we speak! And, I've begun obsessively cleaning. I spent about 5 hours yesterday scrubbing down my kitchen and bathroom. I never knew how much I needed to dust my pantry and don't even get me started on the kitchen floors, they will never be clean enough! I'm not as bad as my husband though. He started his nesting phase the day we found out I was pregnant. He has had me organizing my office, cleaning out my closets and forcing me to get rid of the junk I apparently had no idea I had. All in all, we have officially gone crazy and are loving every minute of it!
For all you moms who have advice for me, I would love hear it, just leave me a comment. Especially any advice on what the heck to register for, that is one overwhelming project!
And, for those of you wondering, we are not finding out what we are having, so you will just have to wait until September! I don't like to post without images, so here is one of a cute little wooden dog I found for the baby...

Ha! It's 4am now but a week later (too much coffee this afternoon for an evening photo session). Anyhow, you never really need as much baby stuff as you think you will need. All we really used a lot were several onsies and sleepers (they pee through clothes a lot at this age), stretchy swaddling blankets, and everyday stuff (diapers, wipes). That's really about it except for a white noise maker. One thing I will say is that all 3 of my kids are great sleepers and I think it's due to white noise. They have always had either a white noise machine or air purifier in their rooms at night...it drowns out and extra or sudden noises and is soothing.
thanks, stephanie!!! good advice, i'm slowly figuring my way through all this crazy stuff. i try to keep babies r us visits to minimum!
Congratulations! You did a session for me and my son about 8 weeks after he was born. I try to keep up with your blog and saw your announcement! I am so happy for you. You will forget the life you had before. Your life will not begin until your baby is here. You will know what i mean when he/she gets here. We also waited to know the gender. It is a lot of fun and drives people around your crazy! I also agree, you don't need nearly as much baby stuff as advertised.
Congrats! We are so happy for you. During those first couple months hold your precious baby as much as possible. A sling or Bjorn is helpful. A bouncy seat will be handy for taking showers, cooking, etc. Our kids also enjoyed the floor play mat. Another fav is the Bumbo seat w/c can be used when baby can hold up his/her head (around 12 weeks). And when baby is older, an exersaucer is a must have. We didn't find out w/ any of our kiddos and I consider it the BEST surprise ever. There is nothing else that compares to the excitment in the delivery room, when baby arrives and everyone screams, IT'S A ?????? Oh, enjoy every moment!
